In the next two weeks, the tennis fans will enjoy the second Grand Slam this year, Rollan Garros. There are many interesting memories connected with this tournament, but in this post we will remind you of maybe the two most bizarre events that happened on the French Open.

Goran Ivanishevic

Goran Ivanishevic

The first one includes the former Croatian player Goran Ivanishevic. Ivanishevic got the reputation of the most interesting tennis players in the world, mostly because of his temperament, his great serve, the moos swings and the threats of leaving the tennis court because of the mistakes that the umpires were making during the match. Therefore, in the year 2000 in Brighton , the 134 ranked Goran, was playing against the Korean tennis player Hyung Taik Lee, which became one of the most interesting matches in the history of tennis. In the first set, Lee won the break point for 6-5, and because of that, Ivanishevic broke his racquet. The second set ended with the result 7-6 for Ivanishevic, but in the third set, he missed the double chance of winning a break point, and that is how the second racquet got broken. Right after four points, he broke the third racquet. The Korean player came to a break opportunity, and because of that, Ivanishevic broke his fourth racquet. He got penalty from the umpire. And then, something weird happened. Slightly worried, the Croatian player approached the umpire Garry Armstrong and he whispered: Garry, I have no racquets left. With a smile on the face, Gary Armstrong said: “Well, what can I say, except that I do not have a racquet to land you, and even if I did have, I was not gonna give it to you for sure”. Ivanishevic left the court, and he became the first tennis player in the history that had to give up the match after breaking all the racquets in his bag. After the game, in an interview he said: “I was so nervous. If I had a 100 more racquets, they would all ended up broken”.

Jim Courier

Jim Courier

The second event is connected with Jim Courier, who won Rollan Garros from 1991-1994. In the first round, he played against the outsider Jean Philippe Fleurian from France. Courier had a great start, winning the first set with 6-1.But right after that, something unusual happened. Courier started to sweat a lot, and he made seven double faults, so the audience realized that he was in “big trouble”. But Courier got together, and he won the match with the result 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. This match was never going to be noticed as an interesting event, if the reason for Couriers lack of concentration in the second set was not reviled. One extremely hot fan of Fleurian decided to do something after realizing that her favorite player is losing the match. According to the British Times, which published pictures of the hot brunet as a proof, she was spreading the legs every time Courier was looking at her, and yes, she was wearing a short shirt:). After the warning from the security, she stopped doing that, and Courier won the match. Lucky bastard, huh?

“I am very pleased that I got this reward. Starting with the last years win on the Davis Cup in Serbia, the past 12 months were amazing. Since I was a little boy, my dream was to become world number one tennis player. But when you`ll win three Grand Slam tournaments and you will finish the year as a world number one tennis racquet on the ATP list, that feeling is really spectacular”, said Djokovic, who was not hiding the pleasure from the great year he had.

Petra Kvitova ITF

Petra Kvitova the best female tennis player for 2011

Petra Kvitova was very surprised. “This reward is like a cherry on the cake. I won Wimbledon, then the final tournament from the masters series, and in the end with the Tennis Representation from the Czech Republic we won the Fed Cup. With all these achievements, I went beyond my dreams, I will never forget this amazing year”. Congratulations to everybody, we are looking forward to the Australia Open 2012.

Two days ago, the world second tennis racquet Rafael Nadal had a little accident on his press conference, and it was all over the Internet. It was not a big deal, just a leg cramps, and the Danish player decided to do a little joke with that, so check out the video. It was funny indeed, thank God Nadal is good now, but his face was really funny. I said his face was funny, not his pain:)

Ferrero vs Monfils US Open 2011

Goce On September - 1 - 2011

Ferrero vs MonfilsBoth players love to keep the ball in play as long as they can until their opponent is exhausted. Juan Carlos Ferrero is more of a clay guy, but he has great results on hard courst with his aggressive forehand. Monfils on the other hand is a bit younger, always up for some exibition move just for the fun of it, and again good hard court player with aggressive forehand. The match progressed very well early on, both players had good points hold their serves. What an amazing shot by Monfils at 5:4, too bad he didn’t et the point. Have to see: http://t.co/eSVcuHK . Ferrero took the last chance for a first break in the match at 6:5. While serving for the first set, Monfils had some great defensive backhands and aggressive forehands to get a tiebreak. Well he did a lot of unforced errors there, Monfils being the leader only to lose the tier with a double fault. Second set was even more unexpected. They both did a lot of breaks, with great points and longiest rallies of the match. Ferrero had his chances to take the lead and secure his place in the third round, but he did a lot of unexpected unforced errors while Monfils started playing riskier game which in turn did pay off by taking the second set with 7:5. By the tempo of this match one would expect that both would be exhausted by now playing for more than two hours already, but they even shown better physical form by playing some diverse points, mostly because of the drop-shots by Monfils and Ferrero being the one who catched them and occasionally making great attractive points in his favor. Well it seemed like he is going to take the lead again this time, but Juan did more unforced errors during the second tie break in the match, and he was punished for that. Well here we are in the fourth set at 3:3 Ferrero with a break point. Again very tied match, and points are getting more attractive with Monfils playing a clown tennis 🙂 . This match started attracting more and more audience so the grand stand got all crowded by the end of the second set. The rallies are getting longer and the points are getting even harder to win and funnier to watch. Ferrero did a break for 4:3, but it took some precise and hard shots to take it at 5:3 on his own serve. Now Monfils is trying hard to stay in this set while Ferrero is serving for a 2:2 tie in sets. Monfils had some runners from side to side while Ferrero stayed assured and aggressive while defending a breakpoint. Monfils vs FerreroIt’s amazing what Monfils can catch. Four hours and the fourth set is ended with a great point representing this whole match. I think Monfils finally realized that he was very passive during this set, but it was very late to become aggressive again and stop giving points as presents to his opponent. Ferrero celebrates it’s 7:5 victory in this fourth set. Fifth set in fifth hour will be decided by the one who stays more hardcore with greater endurance. And again we begin with some great points and Ferrero has a great start with a breakpoint. He stayed true to his whole image of this match. Early break is what he deserved. He struggled through his own serve, but he clenched teeth and took a lead of 2:0. Monfils looks tired and tired, he let Ferrero have two breakpoints, but it seems like he plays better since he his body relaxed and took his first game on the score in the fifth set. Just take a look at this amazing statistic until now. The average shots per point is 5.4 and there are 167 points with 4 or more shots while those under 3 are 162, how cool is that? Ferrero looking steady and stable taking the lead at 3:1 on the expense of the tired and exhausted Monfils. He barely defended his serve saving 2 break points. Ferrero did a third medical timeout, now a blister on his middle finger on his left hand. He looked like he had troubles with that backhand. The lead of 4:2 was already sealed with a great backhand winner at 30:0. Great forehand return by Ferrero started the game. Monfils took his serve with a very realxed forehand winner on a short ball by Ferrero. Monfils takes off with a great projectile winner at Ferrero’s serve. Again they continue with the same pace, it remains a great match to watch keeping it’s uncertainty despite Ferrero’s lead with a break. Ferrero managed to keep mixing his serves very cleverly and his winners keep increasing and he is only a game away for ending this entertaining and exhausting match. Monfils serves for staying in this match he didn’t start good, but he managed to keep his coolness and get closer to Ferrero at 5:4. Monfils had his chances to break back while Fererro is serving for match, but it’s obvious that he doesn’t have the energy. After 4 hours and 48 minutes Fererro got three match points and he took the first one. Monfils congratulated him with an applause for he is a true hero. Maybe Monfils was a bit excited and wanted to celebrate his birthday with this match, but Ferrero was very hard on him and won by 6:4 in the fifth set. Great match to watch, always fun when Monfils is in it. Congratulations to both of them.

Caroline Wozniacki for Stella McCartney`s Fall/Winter 2011 Adidas CollectionToday, Adidas released the photo shoot for the Fall/Winter 2011 Collection of Stella McCartney. The model of this photo shoot was of course the young Danish player Caroline Wozniacki. She has been promoting Stela McCartney`s models since 2009. Until then, Maria Kirilenko was the main promoter of Stella`s collections, but due to her constant loses, Adidas signed a new contract with Wozniacki. In 2009, she was the only female tennis player that was wearing the Adidas collection by Stela McCartney on the US Open. Although, these days, Caroline is not in a great shape (like the rest of the top 10 players), we hope that she will get back her form before the US Open. She is looking forward to this US Open, hoping that she will gain great results. Also, she said that is very satisfied with her new dress, especially with the material of the dress and the comfort that it brings. You can check out the photo shoot that took place in London. How i wish I was Caroline, everything looks incredible. Enjoy.

Cincinnati Finalists

Angelina On August - 22 - 2011

Murray vs Djokovic Cincinnati OpenThe Cincinnati tournament final took place on Sunday, where Maria Sharapova and Andy Murray won the titles. The Britain’s Murray won over the number one tennis racket Novak Djokovic, with a result of 6-4 and in the second set, after 3-0 result for Andy Murray, he retired injured. On the other side, Maria Sharapova defeated Jelena Jankovic witha result 4-6, 7-6 and 6-3 in the final set. All in all, this tournament was quite as expected. The quality of the player was on minimum level, considering the event that will take place one week from now, the US Open. All of the players seemed like they were “saving” themselves for the US Open Grand Slam. Lets hope that we will watch interesting games during the US Open.

Federer DelpotroThe match between Federer and Delpotro is just about to start. They are playing to get into the third round. So, the first game began with Federer on serve, and he had the two asses already . He made two unforced errors, but he won the first game. The second game began with a great forehand return by Federer. This will not be easy match for Federer, since Delpotro has very strong, precise and sharp shots. He won the second game, and now the result is 1:1. Federer won the third game, with two asses and great backhand overhead. The fourth game lasted 8 minutes and 36 seconds and so far it is the most interesting game in this match. Federer has an amazing unpredictable game.Delpotro lost the next game very quickly. The result is 4:1.The next games were so interesting, I forgot to write about them:). Federer won the first set with a result of 6:3. He has the game in his hands. The second set started very good for him, and now he has double break point, bur Delpo manages to return all of Federer`s shots. Federer has one more chance for break, but he loses it. Advantage for Roger and no, deuce again:). This game is from utmost importance for Delpotro in order to gain his self confidence again. So after five break points, Federer lost the first game in the second set.He also lost the third one, and now the result is 2:1. Delpo had his 6th as. However, he will have to try harder to win this match. In this set Roger Federer has twice as Delpotro`s unforced errors. The result is 2:2. Although the 6th game was not going very well for Delpotro, he managed somehow to combine all of his strengths, and won with a result now 4:2. Federer is on serve and he loses this game. This set was very exciting, because both of them were giving their best. Unfortunately for Delpotro, he lost this match, and Federer continues in the third round with James Blake. Too shame for Delpotro, but hey, he is only 22, he will make it;)
